It’s getting better folks, but we are far from where we need to be when it comes to eliminating racism from the fashion industry. For decades one of the least inclusive displays has been on the runway itself. As white models dominated, the only sad explanations we received were one’s such as, “We already found one black girl. We don’t need you any more”, Chanel Iman told the Times. It made it seem that we would never witness a diverse runway from the leading design houses.

That’s why we have been pretty happy to see the runways this NYFWSS16 graced with so many new faces from places such as Angola, Shanghai, and Tanzania.

Two shows that stood out are Tome and Proenza Schouler, check out some of the stunning models below. Then we’ll see how London, Milan, and Paris fair next. I really don’t want to be disappointed ya’ll!
