Dries Van Noten

Dries1DRIES2Tomboy BKLYN is about the mixture of many style but the least represented style is “boho”. What can I say… we are city dwellers but this Dries collection is the epitome of “urban boho” and we love it. He captured the beauty of bohemian print mix with the use of bold stripes, baroque and moroccan inspired prints, and menswear pinstripes. And the easy, loose styling, just makes want to walk around the country side in Birkenstocks. The colors were also luxurious, rich, and bold, with a dark menswear inspired palette. I love that he did not fall prey to usual inclinations of “spring” inspired colors, that leave most styles too aspirational for the average working woman.  Let’s be honest, women wear black year around and cream and white, although beautiful, is almost unwearable for us mass transit users in the city. This is the “Tomboy” boho we have been waiting for.

Jil Sander

Jil1Jil2I want everything. I am in love with the wide leg trouser bermudas, the novelty button-ups, and origami inspired sweatshirt. Every season there is a collection there is a collection that captures how I am feeling and this season it is Jil Sander. Jil Sander is so good creating the pieces that could, and should, live in your closet forever. Pieces that are timeless and never over done, but some how still feels fresh. This is “Tomboy” prep at its best.

Koonhor

koonhor2 koonhor1As much as we love classic pieces, we LOVE power pieces. Power pieces are those items in your closet that stand out from everything and make you feel inspired to be your true self when you where them; items of clothing that can sometimes speak for you before you even open your mouth. This season I feel i love with the statement sweatshirts and trench coats of Koonhor. We love to have new brands make the top 6 list and this Milan based brand started in 2012 by Designers Koon Lim and Catrine Thé, who born and raised in Singapore and Indonesia, has got our attention. and Catrine Thé, born and raised in Singapore and Indonesia,
