Vfiles spring 2015 fashion show, in its second season, democratically picked four young designers from hundreds that upload pictures and videos of their work to their site. We love this show and that it showcases young and upcoming designers. We hate that the industry can feel exclusives at times and love any chance for outsiders to get their voices heard. Below are a couple of

Our favorite was Hye Gin Hamm. Graduating from Parsons earlier this year. From Style.com, “She drew inspiration from, she said, “a mix of American and Korean cultures,” specifically, American denim and bulky silhouettes evocative of traditional Korean monks. Careful hand-bleaching of each oversized and layered item gave the collection an alluringly timeless, placeless quality.” As a denim designer, I love to see what new designers do with denim and love how she uses the shades of indigo rainbow to create awesome tone on tone dressing. Although this is a men’s collection, there are definitely some Tomboy styles for us ladies to rock.

We also loved the graphic looks from Tigran Avestiyan. From Style.com, “the graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, who returned to his native Russia to found his label, based his collection on five actual bottles of name-brand fragrances he bought from duty-free stores in airports and fused them together into one unwieldy bottle that his models carried in clear plastic bags. They also wore tunics and shorts with a mishmash of crinkles and flashes of the words “Duty Free”—just enough to suggest cellophane packaging.” We love a good power piece and the below styles would be perfect, worn together or one style at a time.Vfile2
